Unfortunately and suddently can things change in our life, the circumstances shift and become really different from what they used to be and what we supposed. It could be a divorce, an accident, or the sudden death of a person who we admired and liked.

A friend told me a story about how this happens to her when her father died a month before she were to leave for a holliday and just a couple of days before her dad's birthday. Her father had a massive heart attack and passed away. My friend was devistated. Her father had been a pillar of strength in her life, giving, honest and caring, just the perfect father. How could she go to a vacation now when she was buried so deep in sorrow? But she did go. First she could not believe the beauty of the magnificent place where she was and could not seem to enjoy herself at all. How could she, who just had lost someone that had meant everything to her.

My friend was sitting in the hotel one day after the other overlooking the beach crying and wallowing in self pity and grieve. Remembering her dad and the last gift he had given to her. It was a beautifull gold blackbird on a gold chain, given to her for no reason at all, a couple of months before the father´s death. I was wondering why he had given me this gift for no reason and why a blackbird? she said. One day she heard a tapping at the window, and there sitting on the sill was a blackbird in all his glorious. She stood up and approched him and still he sat there. When I was face to face with him, she said, he looked right at me "kissed" the window pane and then flew away. I knew this was a sign for me, from my father to enjoy the day, and every other day after that just like he had. She then went out and could enjoyed the splendor of her´s journey. She never forgot the "message" she recieved still trying to enjoy herself on every day.

In the USA there are five wishes one have to lets your family and doctors know if you need good health care:
1.The kind of medical treatment you want or don't want.
2.How comfortable you want to be.
3.How you want people to treat you.
4.What you want your loved ones to know.
5.Which person you want to make health care decisions for you when you can't make them yourself anymore.

When we have to face the choice, which some of the American citizens do, or when we meet the big challenge in days of our lives, like my friend with the blackbird did, I´m sure we in general want to meet a gentleman as the little Chimney-sweep in the tale of HC Andersén. A wise gentleman who after facing us with all the desires of wilderness, can promise to take us back - back home again.
